I met Betty in person when I visited her on the Smushie Ranch in August. She welcomed me to the ranch and showed me around telling me that her home was my home. She was the best hostess and I loved spending time with her on the ranch. I will never forget my visit and I'll cherish it always.
Betty could almost always be found on the lap of her loving mom Shannon. Shannon took such good care of Betty, providing her with around the clock treatment in order to prevent Betty from having seizures.
Betty also welcomed others that wanted to share Shannon's lap like her foster brother Newman. Newman took to Betty right away and even thought she was his mother. That's just how Betty was. She nutured everyone because that was just her nature. Betty may have seemed rough and tough on the outside but she was a really softie inside.
Betty and her brother Gunther were the best of friends. I know that he is missing her as is her sister Stella. Their lives were forever changed when Betty arrived and they loved her from the start. I know they are missing her right now but they know like I know that Betty is now free from pain. With no more seizures to rule her life, Betty is now free to run and play on the Rainbow Bridge with all those that have gone before her.
I'm so saddened and I grieve with all the Smushies tonight. I know that Betty had a great life while she was on the Smushie Ranch but that time was all too short. In time my heart will heal and I know that I will see Betty again when it is my turn to go to the Bridge. Until that time I will remember her and know that she lived life to the max, living each day like it was her last.
Run free, Betty. Free from pain but never free from our hearts.

At first I cried OH NO for Betty and the Smushies. But Stubby, you are a wise, wise pug and put it all in perspective. Betty is free from pain. From stupid seizures that hurt her brain. She's running free on the other side of the bridge, happy to be a beautiful smushie.
OMD OMD mum is bawling just bawling right now. She was shocked, then she cried and cried for Betty. But Puglet is right.... you are wise my friend Stubby. Betty is free, free to run, free to enjoy life on the other side of the bridge. She will watch us from above and make sure we are safe here until it is our turn to cross the bridge and join her. We will be sad for a bit but we will smile again at the mention of her name.

This is such sad news. I am just shocked. Thank you for being so wise to remind us that Betty is free to run and play without any worry. I am crying for her Momma and Stella and Gunther, and all the animals on the smushie ranch. I know they all must miss her dearly.

Thank you so much for letting us know, Stubby!
We can't even believe it and can only agree with Puglet and be happy that Betty is running around with our other friends that have crossed the bridge.
We're going to send the Smushie Mama a note right now.

I lit a candle for Betty via Wilma's post. Our thoughts are with Betty's family.

Goodness, this is such a shock! We are sad for the smushie family and we are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers to help them heal from this loss.
And you are right Stubby, she is now free from pain and those stupid seizures. We bet she is running around and playing on the bridge as we speak!

We too were shocked and saddened by this news. Your post was wonderful tribute to Betty.
I was so sad to hear about Betty when I logged on this afternoon! But Stubby, it's not goodbye. It's not goodbye if we carry someone in our heart, it's not goodbye if we remember her. It's just until we meet again. Thanks for remembering Betty in this post and I'm so glad you got to meet her in pawson and spend some time with her.
Stubby, our hearts are so terribly sad.
We were not lucky enough to meet Betty in person, but sure felt like we knew her.
Please treasure your memories with Betty and her family.
All our love -
Sarah, Hank and Molly
Thinking of Shannon and the smushies and our hearts break for their pain. We are sending them lots of love.
Oh Stubby, I am so sad. I have been a bad blogger and late in reading and just now left my condolences on Shannon's Smushie blog. Betty touched the hearts of many and left such great memories for the living to hold onto of her. You hold onto those memories Stubby. ((((HUGS))))
Stubby, I wish you would come back and post. We miss you.
